Fly-Fishing Slovenia 2012

Autumn like fly fishing in the beginning of summer

Evening hatch produced this nice rainbow… tiny cdc&elk worked for me this time

Imago guys are true fans of Slovenia so they returned to our country this summer. This time the Imago team was represented by John Zerihoun and Anton, a Swedish alpine skiing young gun, but also keen flyfisherman who has never fished in Slovenia before. We decided to fish in western Slovenia, on Soča, Idrijca and their tributaries.  It was a mixture of great fishing, nice fish, intense hatches, good food and the weather! We had really pleasant weather on Saturday, but Sunday brought a cold front to the Soča valley and the temperature dropped significantly as it was raining cats and dogs.  Sometimes, We couldn´t see each other because of the thick fog.  Thankfully, the fish were pretty active and we managed to catch a few. Most especially in a secret pool which, on that day, looked even more mystic and out-of-this-world than usual with the heavy fog.  Here are a few photos that I wanted to share with you and which try to illustrate how we enjoyed in our weekend. Thanks to John & Anton for a great company and see you soon again.

Jolly good fellow with a beautiful grayling from Tolminka river

We finished our great weekend trip at the Trebuscica river which was very low and clear…

It took me some time to fool this beautiful brownie on a #20 dry fly

Colorful hybrid (marble trout x brown trout) from the Tolminka river

Surprise, surprise! John spots and carefully approaches the secret pool with incredible amount of fish of all sizes…
